This Privacy Policy explains how Geetaverse, a Bhagavad Gita reading and study app by Bhaktin ("we," "our," "us"), collects, uses, and protects your information. It applies specifically to the Geetaverse mobile app. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Account information

You can read the scripture, its translations, and commentaries without an account. If you choose to create an account or sign in — used to sync your personal library across devices — we collect and store:

• Email address — used to authenticate you with a one-time code.
• Display name (optional) — if you choose to set one.
• Profile image (optional) — if you choose to add one.

Content you create ("your library")

When you are signed in, the following data is stored and synced to our backend:

• Bookmarks — verses you save.
• Highlights — highlighted verses, including the selected text and chosen color.
• Notes — the note text you write, any selected verse text, and tags.
• Reading progress — which verses and chapters you have read, and how often.
• Reading streaks — your current and longest daily-reading streak.

Data stored only on your device

• App settings — language, theme, and font-size preferences.
• Scripture content — chapters, verses, translations, and commentaries, cached for offline reading.

If you use the app without an account, your bookmarks, notes, and progress remain on your device and are not sent to our servers.

What we do not collect

• No payment or financial information — the app does not sell anything in-app.
• No precise location, contacts, photo library, microphone, or camera access.
• No advertising identifiers — the app does not show third-party ads.

How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To store and sync your bookmarks, highlights, notes, reading progress, and streaks across your devices.
• To provide core app functionality and remember your preferences.
• To respond to support requests you send us.
• To maintain the security and integrity of the service and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

Legal Bases (EEA / UK Users)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the basis of your consent (creating an account and syncing content), performance of a contract (providing the features you request), and our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and functional).

Sharing & Service Providers

We do not sell or rent your data. We share it only with the service providers we use to run the app. Our primary provider is InstantDB (Instant), which provides our cloud database and account authentication and is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Data shared with InstantDB includes your email, display name, profile image, and the content you create (bookmarks, highlights, notes, reading progress, and streaks). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and library content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data as described on our Account & Data Deletion page. Data stored only on your device is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data, such as your display name.
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Export a copy of your data.
• Withdraw consent or object to certain processing.

Security

Data transmitted between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS and is stored on reputable cloud infrastructure with access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children's Privacy

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.
